Missing Hyderabad boy
The young boy, Jayesh Kanodia, has been missing since January 17th, prompting his family to file a complaint with the Jubilee Hills Police.
According to the family, he left home on the pretext of collecting his eye-test reports from Challa Eye Care Centre near Srinagar Colony, but never returned.
As night fell, concern escalated, leading the family to contact the police. They worked together to follow the electric vehicle the boy had been riding to Big Bazaar in Ameerpet. Upon locating his vehicle, they discovered his mobile phone inside, but the keys were missing.
The police and the family have since initiated a search for the teenager. With no leads after 10 days, they have turned to social media in a collaborative effort to locate the missing minor.
The boy’s movements
According to the Jubilee Hills Police, a team, along with the family, has traveled to Shirdi. The teenager was discovered walking out of Shirdi after the Maharashtra police helped them check CCTV footage.
After an exhaustive search, the family returned to Hyderabad only to find the boy’s electric vehicle missing from its location on January 22nd.
As the police continued their investigation and scrutinized CCTV footage, it was revealed that the minor had returned to Hyderabad and driven his vehicle to Secunderabad Railway Station. The vehicle was found parked at the station.
Subsequently, he was seen on one of the platforms in Secunderabad, leading police officers to suspect that he might have boarded the Rajkot Express — that goes from Secunderabad to Rajkot in Gujarat.
The Jubilee Hills police have filed a case under section 363 of the IPC because they believe the boy has been kidnapped.
Channeling social media
The family and police have taken to X, previously Twitter, and Instagram to find the boy.
The efforts to find the teenager, a Class 12 student at Delhi Public School in Hyderabad, have been supported by netizens.
An Instagram account, @find-jayesh, has been created, and the Jubilee Hills Police are also actively providing updates. The family is also utilising WhatsApp to implore everyone they know to share information.
Their message resonates with emotion, “We all love you and miss you a lot. We are sorry you are feeling this way, nothing matters to us more than your well-being. Please come back home. Nobody will ask or say anything to you. Please contact us, we are waiting for you.”
In a similar incident in Bengaluru, a 12-year-old boy who had been missing from Whitefield was found in Hyderabad’s Nampally Railway Station following a massive search.
Two WhatsApp groups — “Finding Parinav” and “Search for Parinav” — were created with hundreds of people joining in the search for the missing boy.
The breakthrough in the case came when a resident of Bengaluru visiting Hyderabad noticed a boy resembling Parinav in the circulated images on her WhatsApp.
Similarly, Jayesh’s parents and the Jubilee Hills Police are hopeful that social media will prevail, while they continue to investigate his disappearance in full swing.
